A few weeks ago at Becki's shower, my job was to play with Ava and her cousins, Audrey, Avery, and Max. At some point during this play time, Avery began singing "row, row, row your boat." As soon as she began singing, Ava immediately stopped whatever she was doing, ran over to me, grabed each of my two hands and began rocking (rowing) back and forth. Surprised, I sang it again, and she did the same thing. It was pretty cool and we sang the song all weekend (and ever since we got back home - it is a Scott household favorite). She loves to sing the song, ("woah, woah" - that is as far as she gets, but she wants you to finish) and rock back and forth. She will do it anytime and with anybody. (apparently, her preschool had just taught it to her).
Well, last week my mom was in town, so Ava had plenty of people to sing her favorite song with. Unfortunately, Mim had to go home, so yesterday, Ava was going through Row withdrawals - but not because we would not row with her, it is just when she is ready, she looks for the closest person. It just so happens the closest to her was Tucker. That's right, Ava grabbed at his two front paws and began singing..."woah, woah" and then looked at Tucker with sense of concern that he was not taking her hands in his, nor was he rowing or singing. Not to be turned down, she tried again. With a look of either disappointment or confusion as to why her favorite dog was not playing along, she looked at her mommy, who smiled proudly at her daughter, and while hiding her laughter, took her daughter's hands and began swaying and singing "woah, woah, woah your boat, gently down the stream...." The deep joys of parenthood.
that is too cute!! And of course no camera at the ready to shoot it. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Love you.
